Tap Social Movement, 27 Curtis Industrial Estate, North Hinksey Lane OX2 0LX, Fri 21 February 2020
Hailing from Temple Cowley, Temple Funk Collective are a New Orleans-style 8-piece brass band who play irresistibly funky tunes influenced by gypsy, jungle and hip-hop. One of the UK's foremost New Orleans brass bands, Temple Funk Collective have been around the festival circuit with upbeat original tracks and classic covers, and released an LP, Rabbit in the Headlights, at the back end of 2019. If the album is anything to go by, you can expect riotous, roof-raising funk that is irresistibly danceable. Whether you're a veteran who knows their flugelbone from their sousaphone, or just a newcomer who fancies shaking those tail feathers, this will be a barnstormer.
Happy hour kicks off at Tap Social from 5 until 7pm, and the gig itself is free entry, with Pitiguey providing arepas and empanadas all night long and the usual mind-boggling array of ales available at the bar.
