The Oxford University Museum of Natural History plays host to dinosaurs all year round, with over 375,000 fossil specimens in their collection! Step along the dinosaur footprints into the museum to check out all the mighty beasts and giant plant eaters on display. Highlights include a near complete skeleton of the marine reptile Peloneustes from Oxfordshire and the mighty Iguanodon skeleton. And if you want to learn even more there are Dino Friendly Tours throughout the day. There are in collaboration with Dinosaur World, with the museum offering behind-the-scenes tours with one of their palaeontologists, allowing groups to get up close to the fossils of the Oxfordshire dinosaurs.
And it is not just about the dinosaurs at the museum with 30,000 mineral specimens and one of the largest national insect collections. Don't forget to check out the bee hive on the first floor too. A warning that on a particularly sunny day the museum can be extremely hot, so if you need to escape the heat, pop to the Pitt Rivers, which is accessible at the back of the Museum. The Museum is open from 10am to 5pm and is free.
