This exhibition includes prints from Quentin’s brand-new drawings and extracts copied from Roald’s original manuscripts for the book.
The Roald Dahl Museum, 81-83 High Street, Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire HP16 0AL, Thu 7 September - Sun 15 April 2018
The final story to be published in Roald Dahl's illustrious career came a few months after his death in the form of The Minpins. However, it was lacking an element so synonymous with Dahl's work that now, 16 years later, it has been released as Billy and the Minpins with the missing ingredient added to the heady broth. That is of course drawings by Quentin Blake.
To celebrate, the Roald Dahl Museum have an exhibition with prints of Blake's artwork on display and copies of Dahl's original manuscript. It is not the only way you can bask in Dahl's work, with the museum home to a wealth of information. It has three galleries that chart Dahl's life as well as his creations. Furthermore there are storytelling workshops throughout the week and a café with Dahl-themed delights.
The museum is fully wheelchair accessible and has one on site that can be borrowed, as well as British Sign Language interpretation throughout through a free Signly app. Situated in Great Missenden, the Museum is more of a trip out for Oxford residents, but is worth your time, surrounded by the scenic Chiltern Hills. Make a date to meet Billy and the Minpins.
