Marina Carr is one of Ireland's best contemporary playwrights, with her work including the devastating By The Bog of Cats. Undaunted by the challenging content of Carr's works, Abingdon Drama Club are bravely taking on Portia Coughlan. Portia has reached her 30th birthday, and has an idyllic home, loving children and a wealthy husband. But she is haunted by the loss of her twin brother, who drowned 15 years earlier.

Through flashbacks, the play explores the power of memory with this darkly comic drama touching on the impact a death can have, reverberating long beyond the event. Abingdon Drama Club are experienced in bringing powerful drama to Abingdon's Unicorn Theatre with previous productions including The Glass Menagerie and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, and here they dip into one of the darker modern Irish plays. It promises to be a memorable evening but one not suitable for children.
