There are new comedy nights popping up all over Oxford right now, and we're particularly excited by the diversity and home-grown talented celebrated by Get Booked! - a monthly gig that's the brainchild of MC Lizzie Hopley and Josh, landlord at The Bookbinders. Together they have established a night that's already making waves, with an innovative format and a 50:50 gender split.

There are three sections to the night - to start, four hopefuls get 5 minutes each to wow the audience, who vote for their favourite. The winner returns to a future Get Booked. Then there are three semi-pros, with slots of 10 minutes each, and finally a headliner. This time the support acts are "Scouse wonder Jamie Allerton, the excellent Sohom Das, and the supreeeeme Imogen Edmundson" and cheeky cheery cockney geezer Lenny Sherman headlines.

The Bookbinders with its low ceilings and sprawling format is totally transformed with new PA and sparkly curtain, into a premier venue for comedy, in this fresh and lively venture.
