Ages 6-11 can dissect a pellet and learn 'owl' about what they had for dinner!
Cogges Farm, Church Lane, Witney OX28 3LA, Tue 13 February 2018
Everyone loves owls, and we all know how great they are at carrying magical letters. But did you know they can fly silently, hear the tiniest leaf rustling in the undergrowth, and see really well at low light, but can't roll their eyes?
And did you also know they eat their prey whole? Rather than try and digest all the claws, fur, feathers and bones, they cough them up again, as an owl pellet. Science Oxford and Cogges Farm have collected lots of owl pellets, and in this workshop you can dissect them, and see what poor unfortunate creature was the owl's most recent meal. Science Oxford's resident ecologist Roger will be on hand to help you sort your tibia from your clavicle, and work out what the owls of Oxfordshire have been eating.
It's a popular workshop, and booking is vital. If you miss out, Science Oxford will be back at Cogges regularly this year, for more hands-on science workshops.
