British Science Week in Oxford

Nationwide week to mark the history of science as well as draw attention to the latest discoveries.

It feels apt that there should be a wealth of science-based events in the city during British Science Week. After all, Oxford is the home of such fabulous educational hubs as the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and the Museum of the History of Science. So to commemorate all things science, you could explore how your own DNA impacts your taste buds or hear about all the research linked to the Settlers exhibition, the latest exhibition at the Museum of Natural History all about the genetics and geography of Britain.

Alternatively French neuroscientist Dr Zoi Kapoula is at the Ashmolean giving a talk on the research going into the mechanisms of the human brain as part of Brain Awareness Week. Finally, the ever-prolific Science Oxford are hosting local astronomer Patrick Roche who will be discussing the black hole at the centre of the Milky Way and the technologies being used to investigate it.
