Jack Gibbons began performing in public in 1972 at the age of 10, and went on to win first prize in the Newport International Pianoforte Competition at 20. His career has spanned nearly half a century, and in that time he has become known as a virtuoso pianist and notable composer, celebrated in particular for his painstaking reconstruction and definitive interpretation of the works of George Gershwin.

His annual piano series in Oxford's Holywell Music Room has become a beloved feature of the city's concert calendar. Showcasing works from great composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Gershwin, and including premieres of his own compositions, he draws the audience into an intimate and fascinating world of music, history and anecdote which is always memorable and highly enjoyable.
