Connie's Colander

Human Story Theatre presents Connie's Colander by Gaye Poole
Various location, 6 Alvescot Rd, Carterton OX18 3JH, Tue 25 June 2019

Connie is a retired domestic science teacher. Emily, her daughter, is enjoying hosting her first TV cookery show, Connie’s Colander, bringing her mother’s recipes onscreen and up to date. Sensitively, with humour and tenderness, this newly written play traces the evolving relationship throughout their lives and the impact of Connie’s Alzheimer’s. Can their relationship, and the TV show, survive?

Human Story Theatre focuses on new plays with health and social care issues at heart. With a passion that theatre is for all, and a belief that it can highlight health and social care issues, this company aims to engage, entertain and raise awareness in 'pop-up' spaces that are accessible to all. They also operate a ‘pay what you can’ policy where possible.

Human Story Theatre partners with local communities, groups and organisations relevant to the issue being explored in each play. Professionals/members of these groups then come to lead post-show Q&As with the aim of signposting the audience to their local services.

The play will be followed by a 20 minute post-show Q&A with a dementia specialist.
