The Trap Grounds Nature Reserve is a haven for wildlife, home to at least 35 species of birds as well as lizards, slow worms, kingfishers, water voles and bats - making it a perfect place for little ones to explore the natural world over the summer holidays. This year, following the success of last year's trail at the C S Lewis Nature Reserve, Little Oxplorers have created a Fairy Door Trail to make the experience of visiting even more magical. Kids can follow the trail around the 7-acre site, seeking out the 20 hand-painted, tiny doors nestled amongst the flowers and trees. While concentrating hard on finding the doors, they're more likely to notice other fascinating aspects of the lovely surroundings, such as the wildflowers in School Meadow and Foxglove Meadow.
The Trap Grounds can be accessed from the canal towpath and via Frenchay Road, with the trail available all day. More detailed information can be found on the Trap Grounds website, while the Little Oxplorers Facebook page has updates about the trail, including a beautifully detailed map.
