Will Eaves will be talking about his Wellcome Book Prize winning novel.
Blackwells Bookshop, 48-51 Broad St, Oxford OX1 3BQ, Sat 10 August 2019
In Blackwell's latest author talk, Will Eaves will be introducing his novel Murmur, which recently won the Wellcome Book Prize. Murmur is inspired by the life of Alan Turing, focusing on his work during the war, his role in the development of the computer systems that we're familiar with today, and, in particular, his arrest and forced chemical castration by the British government. Murmur looks at Turing's resilience in the face of this treatment, and how he responded with 'love, honour, and a rigorous, unsentimental curiosity'.
The event is free to attend, but registration is required. The talk may take place in the Philosophy Department at Blackwell's, which is accessible by a short flight of stairs - contact staff if you have any accessibility needs. Seating will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
