Fitness and yoga following surgery for breast cancer.
Manor Hospital Conference Room, Beech Rd, Headington, OX3 7RP, Sat 19 October 2019
Oxford Breast Buddy Group, or OBBG, is a local charity established in 2015 with the aim of supporting those suffering from breast cancer through counselling and education. OBBG recognises that recovery from breast cancer isn't just about receiving medical care, but about improving well-being. They finance and organise a free mindfulness course each year, in addition to monthly meetings with guest speakers covering a range of different areas such as nutrition, the psychological impact of cancer, and supporting your immune system.
The topic for October is exercise after breast cancer surgery. Making the transition from a post-surgery physio programme and returning to normal exercise can be difficult, and this meeting is designed to answer questions and allow attendees to share exercises and experiences that have worked for them. A introductory yoga session will follow the meeting to help aid relaxation and quality of sleep, reduce levels of stress and fatigue, all crucial elements to improving well-being.
