What better way to celebrate the winter solstice, the longest night of the year, than by paying a visit to the Rollright Stones as dusk falls? The Stones (in particular the King's Men stone circle) make up one of the county's most enchanting and magical archaeological sites, the ideal place to witness the coming of Yule. Event organisers Watchers of the Old Ways recommend bringing drums to the ceremony if you have them, as well as wrapping up nice and warm. It's a family-friendly event and there will be a bring-and-share picnic to feast on, with the promise of hot chocolate to warm cold hands back at The Greedy Goose pub after the event.
