Father's Day Competition 2021

Win 2 tickets to The Gypsy Baker's Father's Day workshop!

20th June 2021 is Father's Day, and The Gypsy Baker is providing the perfect way to celebrate with your dad, with a special edition of the Kitchen Stories workshop!

'Tiramisu Madness' is a cook-along where you and your dad will learn how to make the favourite Italian dessert, three ways: a sumptuous, classic tiramisu; a deconstructed tiramisu; and tiramisu truffles/ice-cream treats!

The workshop will be led by Hannah Bironzo - The Gypsy Baker, and the fabulous Italian chef, cookery teacher and seller of blissfully beautiful Italian food at Oxfordshire farmers' markets, Mariella Bliss.

Once booked on, they will email you a list of ingredients and basic kitchen equipment required for the workshop. The Zoom link will be sent, by email, to all participants, the day before the workshop.

10% of proceeds from the workshop will be donated to Oxford Hospitals Charity.

Tickets are £15 for one Zoom account and £25 to add a friend (or a father!) - all warmly welcome!

How to book: Please email Hannah at [email protected]

We are delighted to be teaming up with Hannah to offer a pair of tickets for our Father's Day competition!

For your chance to win, simply tell us about a memorable meal you've shared with your Dad (or a memorable time he cooked!). Write your answer below or email it to us on [email protected] for your chance to win.

Deadline: midday on Friday 11th June. Good luck!

Entries so far:

A memorable meal that I shared with my father was for his birthday this year in April. I had finally gone home to see him after being away from home for more than a year and 3 months.

I was able to make a 3 course meal with him. Salmon starter, chicken korma, and Eton Mess for dessert. The meal was a delectable success.

We were elevated to have been reunited and sharing in good food again after such a long time.

My Dads easiest meal I remember him making was a tomato sauce and squared cheese sandwich for me after complaining I was hungry.

Looking back on this with humour I must have drove him nuts with my appetite.

He’s a dad of 8 and loves a go cooking in the kitchen , his best dish is curries he does perfect rice chips nan breads , garlic breads and his pickles

Love u dad hadley musk

My Dad he finds it hard to cook
But he grabs a recipe book to have a look.
He takes forever to organise the ingredients
But tries so hard to be expedient!

A leek and chicken traybake is his latest feat
We all sit down to this veritable treat.
It is a triumph and dad feels great
He’s created a dish fit for a date.

Alas we still have room for another course
Sorry he says with some remorse.
No worries we said “thanks “and “we love you”
But next time perhaps some tiramisu?!!
