2017's OxSciFest is a week's worth of experiments, talks and activities, spanning ethics and insect amplifiers, sci-fi and sustainability. On Saturday and Sunday the Town Hall will be full of explorable zones - for families by day, and for adults only on Saturday night! The bulk of events cost £5 or nothing - here are a few picks:
Science Oxford Maker Club will be encouraging young people to pick up the soldering iron and harness some clean solar energy. The sun is scheduled to appear, but feel free to veer off-topic by bringing your own projects to this fun tech workshop.
Science's partnership with the imagination is explored as authors including Tricia Sullivan and Jonathan Oliver talk chaos, creation and speculated futures at a panel in the Sheldonian. All the authors are ridiculously qualified, with degrees in Psychology, Zoology and Physics amongst their Arthur C. Clarke Awards.
As memes and matters viral travel through nature, Contagion Cabaret looks at how concepts and scenes travel through the creative arts in time. This event combines performance and discussion, its involvement of Chipping Norton Theatre's Artistic Director John Terry assuring us of the quality of the whole.
