Ashmolean After Hours

Come and explore the museum after normal closing time, enjoy our latest exhibition, take in a talk, listen to some live music, or relax at the bar with friends after work. Why not book a table for dinner at our Rooftop Restaurant?
Ashmolean Museum, Beaumont Street, Oxford OX1 2PH, Fri 31 May 2019

Every last Friday of the month, the Ashmolean Museum is open late - from 5-8pm the galleries are transformed to a cool evening venue, with live music, tours, talks and drinks. Entry is free although to see the latest exhibition you'll need to buy tickets.

For May, the talk is Beyond Brideshead: Queer Oxford 1919-1945. On the eve of Oxford Pride Day, join historian Ross Brooks from Oxford Brookes University as he discusses his research into queer culture in Oxford during the interwar years of the early 20th Century - known as the 'Brideshead generation'.

After Hours visitors who have recently got engaged can also explore the museum's stunning wedding facilities. The Ashmolean first welcomed couples to get married amongst their collections back in 2007 - and recently invited their first couple, Lucy and Beck, back for an anniversary photo shoot - we enjoyed seeing the 'before and after' glimpse of Oxford from over a decade ago! Newly-engaged couples are invited to join for an After Hours glass of fizz and to view the hireable spaces, and will also have a chance to win a case of bubbly or wine on the night. This is a free event but booking for the After Hours Wedding Showcase is essential!
