Right with you Moviemoghul.
It features wonderful actors who produce awesome performances. It's a very talky movie, with seemingly hours of exposition (who in fact did do it?) all in a very confined, stagey, one-room set. It's looong. It's very clever. It's jam-packed with movie references (my favourite being the chirpy Calamity Jane lookalike Six-Horse Judy). It is in fact almost identical in terms of plot to Tarantino's break-out movie, Reservoir Dogs (and stars several of the same people) and it explores several of the same themes about identity, criminality, and loyalty. But at what point does homage become parody? At several points here, I think.
I loved Jennifer Jason-Leigh as the crazed female baddy, never uttering a word of complaint as her eye is blackened, her nose broken and her teeth are smashed - I ended up feeling a lot of sympathy for her. Worth seeing, obviously, but it might be a disappointment to fans I would think.
