This was great. Leaves you with a a few questions at the end, but beautifully shot, and the perfect film to watch if you are tired of yet another Hollywood blockbuster based on superheroes.
Touches of realism and humour prevent this film from being completely turgid. The direction is somewhat conceited, and with a lack of atmosphere and pace you really have to work hard in this prolonged ordeal. Often resembles a clothing advert.
The fact that this stars Kristin Scott Thomas, the Mogadon Queen of cinema, should have warned us off. Nor does her co-star Elsa Zylberstein have the emotional range required. This is where 'under-stated' becomes merely 'tedious'. Builds to a denouement which, far from cathartic, seems just rather far fetched. Null points.
