These kind folks are up and awake even by 6.30 on weekdays to feed you your first cup of coffee. They now offer you icecubes to cool it to drinkable, which works extremely well.

We differentiate ourselves from others by offering a large variety of free range, organic, gluten free and vegan products. All our sandwiches are freshly made in our shops in Oxford, and most of our meat and cheeses come from David John in the Covered Market. We frequently collaborate with local artists to help spreading their work, making everyone's day more enjoyable and rich. External catering too. Good, reasonably-priced, upmarket hot and cold food in the museum's attractively vaulted basement. Can be hired out for your own private functions too! You can also visit the Ashmolean Rooftop Restaurant.

On the top floor of the museum, this rather classy venue has an outdoor rooftop terrace (highly enjoyable on a hot day but rather exposed in inclement weather). It's always busy, and it's definitely worth booking in advance (although if it's full you can always go down to the comfortably proletarian café in the basement). Dress is usually smart-casual and there's rarely a toddler in sight. The Dining Room can be hired outside museum opening hours, and will take up to 100 people for a drinks reception, 70 for a seated dinner and 80 for an informal buffet.

The working pottery gives tours, and you can buy finished items in the shop. The gardens are also well worth seeing, with seasonal interest all year round. Food on offer includes main meals, sandwiches, cakes and coffee.

Plus more substantial lunch menu (jackets, paninis, etc). Friendly service, used to catering for all ages, from the tiniest high-chair user (and parent juggling cups) to afternoon tea for retired folks. Potted palms and split-level site make for interest, and the whole space seems open and spacious. The menu is straightforward but things like fruit juices are more natural without artificial ingredients; it's not awash with sugary carbonated tooth-rotting drinks, and is therefore kind for families.

Enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake whilst soaking up the atmosphere of our beautiful, historic castleyard. We also have a fantastic selection of sandwiches, with bread courtesy of a local craft bakery. Free Wifi is also available for customers.

Cherwell Collective helps the community cut carbon footprints through education and outreach. They reduce waste and help disadvantaged individuals. All are welcome at their Climatarian Kitchen, which offers fresh, hot meals, made with food that would otherwise be headed for landfill. At the same time, stock up on your own waste-saving ingredients at their food surplus market. These are both operated on a pay-what-you-can basis, so they're affordable for all. What's more, proceeds from the sales support Cherwell Collective's work tackling food poverty in the community (eg through the Cherwell Larder) - so you can enjoy great food knowing that it's 'giving back' to people and planet in more ways than one.
