The Ashmolean hosts a range of special events throughout the year including late openings, themed weekends and cinema screenings.

This weekend's Anglo Saxon and Viking Festival is a chance to learn more about one of the most interesting times in British history through storytelling, stonemasonry, craft activities, talks and more.

Taking place on both days with no booking required, the programme includes: displays of Anglo-Saxon craft techniques and tools with demonstrations by craftsmen and women; storytelling for all ages; a procession of Guild officers, officials and apprentices through the museum; the chance to make your own Anglo-Saxon items, and exciting digital battle demonstrations with Creative Assembly, the makers of the Total War games.
