When the concealed lighting is on the effect is pleasantly surreal. The ground floor is accessible from the main museum; because the lower ground floor is pretty crowded and in the process of being reconfigured, access is limited - but as an archaeology student or teacher (or, often, simply as one with a special interest in classical sculpture), you can get a Cast Gallery Visitor’s Pass from Reception which will permit you to visit the lower floor.

The space is available to hire for wedding ceremonies and drinks receptions of around 40 people - there are some restrictions on catering which the Ashmolean Venue Hire team will be happy to explain.
