Polar Bears is a great song that is fast becoming a live favourite – great keyboards and catchy lyrics that you will find your self singing in the shower. Fred (Unverified), 21/06/08 Alphabet Backwards is a man who is doomed to hit a live audience at some point, and this will surely be an interesting experience. He is a prolific artist (this being his second Ep in nearly as many months), but I was perhaps a little disappointed by the first few tracks. Sure I enjoyed the notion of throwing ice cubes into the sea to halt global warming, but this artist hasn’t found whatever it’s going to be that makes him famous. He hasn’t found his sound. Polar Bear sounds a little like how I feel on Sunday mornings – lazy, dragging and rather self-indulgent. I enjoy Sunday mornings, but I wouldn’t want to make anyone watch me. For all that though, it could be one hell of a lot worse. Hitchman (sadly he wasn’t actually christened Alphabet) is a pretty decent performer; he churns out his happy-go-lucky bouncy anthems with a consistent level of musicianship. By far the best track on this Ep is the last one, To Make Her Laugh, where Hitchman gives his voice a rest and exercises some talented keyboard skills. *** with a little (*) for track 5.
