It's not a bad film at all.
Inevitably it is more orientated towards an American audience, and a film for quite young children set in busy New York may not be appealing to the Boggle buying parents of OX1, but it is a joy to watch.
I agree that it was not as funny as I had expected as an adult viewer (half of it was 'edutainment' after all - but I did learn much about the sad common-minded bee society, explaining why the character flies off to live in the city). But there were a few references to strict 'Jewish Bee' parenting (something Seinfeld likes to capitalize from) which some may find relatively amusing, with a number old film references to spot.
The script writing wasn't great, but again you can tell by the style of drawing that it is intended for young families with children from 2-13, and I heard families in the audience enjoying it. Again though, I don't think the very culturally American characters (like the cameo by Chris Rock) will be as digestible over here.
