Although I do agree the set (or lack of) certainly left a lot to be desired it must be noted both casts were fantastic and ful of energy and enthuisiasm!
Especially of note for me were Alex Hopwood playing Ren (and yes I do agree he does not actually know how talented he truly is - this young man is certainly one to watch for the future), George Turner who delivered an outstanding performance beyond his years, Greg Handley whose charm, wit and sheer gusto left me glued to his every move when on stage, and Danielle Ridgley, whose solo 'Learning to be Silent' had me reduced to tears with her sincerity and passion.
I would like to challenge anyone who feels that they could deliver a better cast of young actors and actresses of such a wide age range to do a better job. The choreography (although not as complex as previous years) was slick and polished to perfection as were the vocal harmonies.
All in all I feel Sandy Bowen has managed to deliver yet another brilliant show with her cast and it is something that all involved (including those doing lights, sound etc) should be particularly proud of!
Well done!
