The du Pre Music Building has excellent acoustics, a new Steinway concert grand piano, and a good ambience. The downside is the expensive event insurance the hirer has to take out, typically £150 for a single event depending on the insurance company. Other venues, for instance the Sheldonian, do not require this and have their own cover which is not charged to the hirer.
