Pleasant, old-fashioned venue with good food at reasonable prices (hence lots of business lunchers to be spotted). Lots of interior nooks and crannies supplemented by a heated & covered all-year-round courtyard, popular (and leafy, mediterranean-feeling, and uncovered) in summer. Chess club; 'cottage' at rear available for hire for meetings, watching televised sports events, etc. Opening hours: Mon - Fri 10am - 3pm (booze from 10.30am), 5pm - 11pm; Sat 10am - 3pm (booze from 10.30am), 6 - 11pm; Sun 12pm - 4pm, 6pm - 10.30pm. Food served: Mon-Sat, 12pm-2.15pm, 6pm-9pm, Sun 1pm-3pm, 6pm-9pm. ![]()

It is a fairly expensive pub, but in my opinion worth it. The landlord and bar staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful, traditional interior, really nice welcoming atmosphere and very good selection of beer and wine.
Jack (Unverified), 07/10/08 This is one of the very few Oxford pubs still run by a proper landlord who will greet you on arrival, thank you on departure and do whatever he can to make your visit enjoyable. And the beer is always very good. Worth going out of your way for this hidden gem. Riverboy (DI User), 28/01/08 I made my first visit to this pub on Friday and I could not get over how expensive this pub is: there is not much to it, the courtyard resembles something you would have found in England in the 1970s and the interior is really cramped and smokey. Geoff Thompson (Unverified), 04/09/06 £3.60 for a pint of Stella, £3.20 for a Carling, bitter not far behind, wine OTT, take a very big wad with you! skinflint (Unverified), 21/08/06 Please fill in the boxes and then click "Send Review" to submit your review for Rose and Crown. | |
