Yes, the monkey nuts are back. [Great News - Ed.]
cheshire exile (Unverified), 25/08/11 Now open again under new management, who appear to be French and have introduced a menu of crepes (both sweet and savoury) to go alongside the usual pub food. I had cheese & ham and it was delicious. The pub seems otherwise largely unchanged - still has a decent selection of real ales, board games, etc - and remains a slightly shabby lovable backstreet pub. But I forgot to check if they had monkey nuts. A Jericho drinker (Unverified), 15/07/11 Alas no peanuts in a barrel any more. But it is still a great place to drink, with good - and sometimes great - beer despite the ownership. The "juke box" last time I went was a bunch of middle aged chaps in the back room having a jam session with the door ajar. Good atmosphere, good beer, good pub! cheshire exile (Unverified), 30/10/09 Good solid Jericho pub, with a decent selection of beers and a small but tasty menu selection. Friendly and usually not too crowded. Good place to meet with friends for a relaxing chat. Mike (Unverified), 03/06/09 We went to the Bookbinder's Arms on the strength of the reviews on Dailyinfo. When we first got there, I saw it was Greene King, not a favourite amongst real ale drinkers. However it does have guest ales from other brewers by the looks of it so you have a selection to choose from. The pub was a bit grubbier than expected, but a good proper pub without too many airs and graces. the menu was basic, but was very surprised to see that a good half of it was vegetarian, and that its meat was locally sourced. It was quiet on the night we visited with enjoyable music on in the background, but I imagine it gets busy at the weekends. All in all, a good pub to visit for a bit to eat, maybe with some friends for a few pints. Games available to play if you want. Recommended. Saffronya (Unverified), 22/03/07 One of my top 5 pubs in Oxford, a real gem. Worth the trek through the back-streets of Jericho as the pub has real character and a cosy atmosphere. Long bar with good selection of beers and good food menu. Full of locals, posh students and OUP workers. Highly recommended. Joe B (Unverified), 14/03/07 Great find in the back streets of Jericho. Very warm and friendly with a descent selection of ales and Budvar and Amstel on draught. An eclectic choice of music and free monkey nuts too. Well worth searching out. pubcrawler (Unverified), 01/01/07 Please fill in the boxes and then click "Send Review" to submit your review for The Old Bookbinder's Arms. | |
