A chain, but quite a nice chain as chains go. Comfy sofas and good mocha. Not very good for wheelchair access, but there is a lift from the floor below. Do a gluten-free very sticky chocolate brownie. | ||

My favourite coffee shop in Oxford, its setting gives it a clear edge over similar chains. The setting in Blackwell's is completely ideal if you're a book lover, and that gives it a charming atmosphere. With a decent view over Broad Street, a range of functional and cushy seats and some relaxed traditional decoration, it collects a wonderful range of people reading, working and chatting. As for the coffee, it's about average for such a chain, but their chai tea lattes are heavenly.
