Fairly big in terms of seating and has pseudo-traditional English Pub décor. They have food offers on at non-peak times, so eating out for 2 can be quite cheap. On the minus side, it is a bit dark in there. Upon entering, you're plunged into almost pitch black. This is made up for by the fact that one can actually hold a conversation with others without being deafened by music. The quality of the food (especially those on special offer) is acceptable. Comrade Lesnik, 14/07/08 The White Horse is a seriously great bar. Not spoiled or changed by modern refurbs, it's a traditional pub with a great selection of ales and home-cooked food, including the best fish and chips in town (allegedly!). No music, no machines - just good conversation. 19/04/08 Quality traditional pub in prime Oxford Uni and tourist territory. Most tourists would probably think it looks too dingy for their more mainstream leanings but once inside it's a bustling little hive of good booze and buzzing conversation. The first thing you notice is the size of the place, it may go back a bit but it's probably in the top 5 smallest pubs in Oxford. Getting a seat is not always easy but if you can then you can settle in to a proper pub atmos with some decent bitter on offer and some some seriously dirty scrumpy on tap. Worth checking out Joe B, 28/05/07
