If you get the fish when it is fresh out and is light yellow, it is better than most coastal chippies. If you get one that has sat in the warmer for an hour it doesn't taste so great...

I love this place because I live next to it. I order from there frequently. The chips and cod taste great and they give a great portion. The price has gone up so chips are now £1.20 (it used to be 90p) and cod is £2.85 when it used to be £2.50. But still a good place.

Terrible fish and chips, huge dolphin-sized plaice in heavy yellow shroud of batter. I know Oxford is in-land etc., but why is it that the only places you get decent fish and chips are the posh eateries? What happened to good old utilitarian fish and chips that were fresh and crisp with vinegar on the one side and newspaper ink on the other?

I lived in Oxford for 15 years and NEVER found any decent fish and chips. Come to Scarborough or Bridlington and even if you only get the 'average' place it will be far better than the Mediterranean Fish Bar where the batter is far too thick, undercooked and soggy. The staff are excellent though and if you ask for a fish lightly battered you get it cooked to order and it's half decent.

This chippy is a gem of a place. The portions are large, the price is low, the chips are tasty, the staff are friendly (as you would expect for a family run business). Can't ask for more, really. Have moved away from the area, and haven't yet found a decent equivalent.
