After searching this site in despair for a good fish and chip shop in Oxford - we didn't realise quite how lucky we were when we lived in North East London to have two or three excellent local ones to choose from - I thought I'd follow Nick G's recommendation and try the Oxford Fish Shop. Given we live in Botley, Iffley isn't really local, but I can confirm that after two excellent experiences, we will be driving round the ring road regularly to get fish and chips from here. The cod is good, often large, well battered, and fried freshly. Thoroughly recommended! Go and try! Much superior to anything else we've experienced in Oxford

I've been pleasantly surprised with this "hole-in-the-wall" old-fashioned chippy since I moved to Iffley. The fish is fresh and usually fried to order and there are good chips and a friendly local welcome (the owner told me he's been frying here for over 20 years). Having lived here for years, I thought Oxford was devoid of good fish and chips - but I've now changed my tune!
