Popular concert venue - be sure to book long in advance. It advertises itself to concert promoters as 'more comfortable than the Sheldonian at a fraction of the price'. The central altar can be moved to accommodate full-size orchestras, while the acoustic is good enough to handle solo recitals. Sizeable first-floor gallery at the back gives overflow capacity with excellent visibility. Fabulous 1987 Metzler organ is a joy to hear and play, but not so helpful for accompanying.
