Fantastic! Delivered in 40 minutes, hot and fresh. Crispy duck was divine, prawn toast delicious and dumpling were very tasty too. Highly recommended, will definately order again ...
Jonathan L. (Unverified), 12/09/11 At the moment my work means that I have to seek fodder around the Little Clarendon Street area fairly regularly, so on Tuesday I decided to give Wok 'n Roll a go. In terms of atmosphere and service I have to say, it's pretty dire. I hadn't had high expectations but nor did I expect it to feel quite so gloomy and unwelcoming. The BBQ ribs I had to start with were okay - there were lots of ribs, but very little meat on said ribs. The sauce was as you would expect, tasty in a synthetic kind of way. I then went for a special egg fu yung which was actually very good. Again the portion was huge and it was well flavoured with a decent amount of shrimps, chicken and pork alongside onions and peas. I rather enjoyed it, though I could barely make a dent in it. What was wrong really, was the service. WnR doubles up as a takeaway downstairs and the solitary waiter spent most of his time down there rather than attending to the guests upstairs. I heard the bell to signal that my food was ready at least five minutes before he made his way back up and this resulted in my food being tepid rather than hot. The staff at Pierre Victoire didn't mock my terrible attempt at ordering in French there but the surly waiter at WnR snapped at me when I mis-pronounced the name of the beer I was ordering, leaving me feeling quite embarrassed and a bit put out. I think my meal came to around £15 which, for a starter, a main and one beer isn't too bad but the atmosphere completely ruined the otherwise passable food. Dr Mukti (DI User), 24/03/11 Me and my colleagues regularly went to the Wok 'n' Roll before the refurbishments. The waiting staff was extremely friendly and even though it was busy during lunch period, they still were polite and courteous. Since last winter, there had been a new management in place and unfortunately the whole atmosphere has changed. The food is much more expensive than before and the homely atmosphere is now nonexistant. The place is more cramped to accommodate more tables and the staff seem less attentive. Very disappointed and a real shame. Laura (Unverified), 08/02/11 Before the refurbishment, I'd been eating at the wok 'n' roll every Thursday with my work-mates for nearly 5 years. Service was quick, food was good and prices were low. I don't know what has changed but since the renovation I've changed my mind about the place. The seating is set so that the tables are closer together which made me feel very cramped, and I felt the quality of the service has deteriorated. dpwrussell (Unverified), 10/09/10 This restaurant is now under renovation for 3 months as of 03/06/2010. With luck it will return in much the same spirit as it's existed for the last 5 years - excellent lunch time deals, tasty food, quick and friendly service. dpwrussell (Unverified), 10/06/10 I ordered a takeaway at lunchtime, Wan ton Soup, Crispy Wan Tons, Beef Szechwan and Egg Fried Rice. The whole thing took just over an hour and arrived luke warm so I can't recommend the delivery service. As for the food, the soup was lovely with clean and simple flavours. Unfortunately it was downhill from there. The Wan Ton was powdery and overcooked, the meat in the Szechwan was dry and chewy, the sauce was flavourless and uninspiring. The fried rice was reasonable but compared poorly to other takeaways we've used. The prices are reasonable but bear in mind that you get what you pay for. Awoken (Unverified), 20/06/09 Recommended this little place by my co workers in the office. It is generally packed out during lunch time but we still managed to order and get our food within 15 minutes which is perfect for those of us who only have an hour lunch break. They offer a great value 2 course lunch menu that also includes a drink for under £6.00 so not bad at all. Highly recommended. Kaitlyn (Unverified), 28/03/09 Not a bad place for a quick lunch. The lunch menu is £5.50 per head for starter, main course and drink. This place gets extremely busy though so try to arrive before 12.30pm if you want to get through fairly quickly. I like the food here, it is simple and tasty. The place is always full of Chinese people which I guess has to say something good about the standard of cuisine too.
