What a wonderful local pub! I went along with friends last week and, despite some of my initial suspicions, I really had a wonderful time. Cricketers Arms seems to be a favourite with the local residents and the crowd was a nice mix of young and old, men and women. Unlike in some 'local pubs', the people were very welcoming and friendly and we stayed until the end. They have a big beer garden and there is also a play area for children. It is a Greene King pub so the selection of real ales wasn't great (GK IPA and Abbot Ale) but it was well kept and I enjoyed my couple of pints of Abbot. They also had some live music on and a pool table in the lounge area. So, venturing slightly further up on Cowley Road was definitely a pleasant surprise!
