Best Thai I've had in Oxford. Reasonable prices, excellent food, pub atmosphere.
Marketeer (Unverified), 07/04/11 Most of the time when I visit people are nice and smiley and very very helpful! The food was great, and very good portions for the price you pay. There was hardly anybody inside the pub. So on the good side- have the Thai food, it's good value for money. 29/04/10 Reasonable prices, tasty food and a nice atmosphere. The Thai food is very good. Ben (Unverified), 08/04/10 I concur with the other reviews: the Pad Thai I had here for lunch recently was very good with lots of fresh, crunchy bean sprouts and carrot running through the well-flavoured and perfectly cooked noodles. Fresh coriander was scattered on top and the chicken pieces felt like real chicken rather than reconstituted rubbish. A nice scattering of peanuts to one side of the bowl finished it off perfectly. I was relieved, as I hadn't gone with high expectations, but decided to have faith in others' recommendations and risk it - it was worth the risk. My lunch cost £6.95 and I think the vegetarian options are a little less expensive so it's really very good value for a substantial, well cooked dish. I intend to go back and sample more of the menu! Dr Mukti (DI User), 17/03/10 The food is incredible for the price you pay. We had the Thai food rather than from the British menu. It was served quickly and the portions were perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful and there was a great atmosphere. I'd come here for drinks in the summer and the garden is lovely and was busy the evening we were served there. Reading the other reviews here I think things must have changed for the better as we were all students and were very welcome, I'm just surprised I hadn't been here before as I walk past it every day. I will certainly be returning! Holga (Unverified), 14/01/10 Great new managment. The new deco is very smart but cosy at the same time. The Thai food delicious, fresh and really quickly made. and such a good price! Really nice atmosphere:) Definitely will come back, and spread the word around... guapa (Unverified), 21/02/09 This place has changed and much for the better. Not sure when new management took over but the interior has been smartened up and they serve Thai food here now. Four of us had dinner there on Saturday with starters about £4 and mains @ £7 - it was all very tasty and we had good service. Was a really nice atmosphere, had a nice evening at this place and will go back. Pub grub prices for food but restaurant quality, very good value for money and friendly staff. Very pleasant pub, recommend it. Ben (Unverified), 07/12/08 Please fill in the boxes and then click "Send Review" to submit your review for The Old Tom. | |
