Within the University of Oxford Catholic Chaplaincy. There are two rooms available: the Newman Room seats 300, and can be divided into two rooms itself. Grade II* Victorian building in Oxford centre, with three large function rooms and eleven smaller multi-functional rooms available to suit different-sized events. Rooms are hired by the hour with a minimum 2 hour reservation and available Mon-Sat 9am-10pm (till 11.59pm for social events), Sun 10am-4pm. Special rates apply for civil weddings, conferences, social events and Sunday reservations. There are discounts for off-peak reservations, and supplements if rooms are needed outside standard hours.
The Main Hall seats 500 on the ground floor and 242 in the balcony. The hourly rate is £170. The Assembly Room and Old Library (capacity 200 and 120 respectively) are available at a fee of £105 per hour per room. Various meeting rooms are available at an hourly rate of £39. (These rates were valid at July 2011.) No kitchen facilities but catering can be provided, but only from the partner catering company. Discounts are possible for 6+ hour reservations and some organisations may qualify for concessionary discounts. If in doubt ask for a bespoke quote. All rooms are wheelchair accessible.
Daily Info's own experience is that the booking staff are helpful, and the venue is affordable compared to other local wedding venues of comparable size. At initial enquiry the venue was Held for two weeks before a firm booking was made - an unusual and most welcome option.
